Self-confidence
Many people find self-confidence and self-esteem to be a huge problem for them. In this world, we can face so many challenges, and it can cause a knock on our emotional strength.
What is self-confidence?
Some people have argued that there is no such thing as self-confidence. They say that we are all born confident, and that problems and experiences throughout life take that confidence away. The problem, they say, is not a lack of self-confidence but a presence of self-doubt.
There is a lot of truth in that. When I work with people with self-confidence and self-esteem issues, I almost always find that the real problem is indeed some type of self-doubt or self-blame.
What is self-doubt?
Self-doubt shows itself in a simple way. It's the way you speak to yourself.
Are you in the habit of knocking yourself down? Do you criticise yourself, or say that you don't deserve things?
Another way is to blame. Do you blame life or others for your lot? Do you find you spend more time complaining about life than having fun?
These ways of thinking poison your thoughts, your feelings, your emotions. They sow the seeds of doubt and fear, and take away hope. The result is a loss of self-confidence, a failure of self-esteem, and an unhappy and fruitless life.
What can you do about it?
Changing the way you think is easier than you would imagine. It can take a little time to undo years of bad habit; but it doesn't take a lot of time, just a little.
Not only is it important to stop thinking poisonous thoughts, which take away your self-confidence, but also to start thinking in news ways that build your self-confidence and self-esteem.
There are various ways to change your thinking from the old to the new. One modern way is through cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). A particularly fast and effective way for self-confidence is through hypnotherapy. Gaining self-confidence means making changes to your unconscious thoughts and patterns, and hypnosis cuts right through to that.
