In keeping with confidentiality agreements, this case history omits any personally identifiable details. "Candice" is not her real name.
Candice came to me because she suffered regular migraines, which prescription tablets couldn't cure.
In the session, she revealed other problems: Clinical depression for 18 months, problems with her boss, guilt feelings, blushing, a phobia of escalators, bullying by a peer, stuttering under stress, and of course general stress.
Having some fun and playing around with some new skills, Candice learned how to take control of her emotions. I made sure that she knew how to do these at home and at work, so she wouldn't have to be dependent on me if new problems arose.
When I followed up with Candice, she confirmed that her problems had improved, and no longer needed anti-depression medication. The migraines were gone. She had control over her work, the situation with her boss, and the bully. She went on escalators without a problem. The stuttering had nearly gone. Her general handling of stress was far improved. She had even changed the way she handled her children.
It works well for Candice, because she remembers to use the new skills she learned. She now finds that she can handle new and unexpected situations, and she and her husband have made massive changes to their lives.
Candice has done well, and I wish her family all the best for the future!
