In keeping with confidentiality agreements, this case history omits any personally identifiable details. "Paula" is not her real name.
After her husband suddenly left her, Paula was stuck as a single mother. Having children to look after full-time and having no work, she felt stuck and despaired of doing anything.
She wanted to escape from this trap and do something useful. Although she had worked hard to be positive and motivated, somehow she just couldn't seem to make the break.
We looked at Paula's goals and passions, and what direction she would ideally like to go. She wasn't quite sure at first. After a couple of sessions, she realised that what she really loved to do was exactly what she believed that she couldn't do anything with.
Over the next few sessions, we worked on various aspects of her life, such as managing her time, making sure we included "fun" time, and learning what blocked her progress. Every session, she left with some positive things to do that she felt motivated and excited about.
It didn't take long for Paula to let go of her original comfort zones and start doing things she had previously only dreamed of.
Two years later, Paula had achieved things she hadn't even imagined she was capable of. Organising people and exhibitions, getting funding, working with charities, and selling her passion…
To this day, she's busy, excited and growing, where before she was frustrated and trapped.
Thank you, Paula, you're an inspiration to us all!
